Are the TAE40116 and the TAE40122 equivalent qualifications?

Yes, despite differences in the number and composition of core units in TAE40122 compared to TAE40116 and some core units being considered non-equivalent to their previous version, the Education Industry Reference Committee (IRC) has taken into account the overall occupational outcome of the new qualification as the primary indicator of equivalence. The IRC has determined that the occupational outcome remains unchanged from that of TAE40116, and as such, TAE40122 has been deemed equivalent to TAE40116.

Do I need to upgrade If I currently hold the TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment?

No, as per the current Standards for RTOs, there is no requirement for additional training to continue meeting the outlined standards.

Do I need to upgrade if I hold the TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment plus TAELLN411 and TAEASS502?

No, as per the current Standards for RTOs, there is no requirement to undergo additional training to continue meeting the outlined requirements.

What are the benefits of upgrading from TAE40116 to TAE40122

Employers usually want their trainers and assessors to have the most up to date qualification, so having the TAE40122 would be an advantage. If the Standards for RTOs change you will be one step ahead.

How long will it take me to finish the TAE40122?

TAE Institute takes into consideration the candidates’ likelihood of successfully achieving the learning outcomes and ensures the integrity of the qualification outcomes is maintained when determining the duration of the qualification delivery. The training provided by TAE Institute is only part of the overall volume of learning and primarily relates to formal activities including classes and other extension tasks.

The amount of training allocated for this qualification is based on the prior experience of each participant. Learners with relevant prior experience may be able to complete the qualification in a shorter timeframe, while those new to the profession may take longer. All learners will be supported by our dedicated Training and Assessment team. The expected duration to meet the requirements of TAE40122 is between six and twelve months, which aligns with the AQF volume of learning indicators for a Certificate IV qualification. TAE Institute will provide a 12-month enrolment duration to complete the qualification.

Can I get Credit Transfer or Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

TAE Institute offers both credit transfer and RPL. An application for credit transfer or RPL is considered on an individual basis.

Credit transfer is available if unit codes are identical.

RPL is an assessment process where evidence is required to show competence. Evidence could be written documents, verbal questions and answers, third party reports. Each RPL application starts with a self assessment questionnaire which is reviewed by an assessor and they will discuss what evidence or gap training/assessment is required.

RPL should not be an onerous process and we have streamlined the process into 4 stages.

  1. Self assessment questionnaire
  2. Competency Conversation
  3. Portfolio of documents
  4. Gap training and or assessment required
