If you are interested in becoming a qualified trainer or assessor in the vocational education and training sector, you will need the TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment qualification.
Our TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment program is a comprehensive course that will equip you with the necessary skills and knowledge to design, deliver and assess nationally recognised qualifications and accredited courses.
On successful completion of this course you will have skills and knowledge to provide training and assessment that can shape the workforce of the future and take your career to the next level.
The course will provide you with a blend of theoretical and practical coursework that will assist you to achieve the following outcomes:
On successful completion of this course you will receive a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122)
The Certificate IV in Training and Assessment does not have any pre-requisite courses.
However, this is an accelerated course that spans 13 weeks of webinars, self directed learning and assessment activities and some experience in training and assessment would be beneficial.
To enrol in this course, you will need to provide evidence of your work experience or previous study. This is to ensure that you have a foundation skills to complete study at this level. This will create a more efficient learning environment for yourself and everyone involved.

There are 6 core units and 6 elective units that make up the TAE40122 course.
Core units are integral to the job outcomes of a trainer and assessor.
We have selected elective units that we believe are essential to be a capable and qualified trainer and assessor,
6 to 12 months to complete.
OPTION 1 – Blended Learning
Online Delivery (Virtual Classroom) + Face-to-Face workshop and Self-paced learning/assessment activities.
OPTION 1 – Self-paced Learning
Independent self paced learning and assessment activities with the assistance of a trainer/assessor.
Cluster 1 – Introduction to training and assessment in the VET sector. This is a self-paced cluster that you need to complete prior to joining webinar sessions.
Cluster 2 – Design training sessions Webinar, independent study and assessment activities.
Cluster 3 – Deliver Training Webinar, independent study and assessment activities.
Cluster 4 – Assess competence Webinar, independent study and assessment activities
Cluster 1 – Introduction to training
Cluster 2 – Introduction to VET
Cluster 3 – Introduction to foundation skills
Cluster 4 – Assessment in VET
Cluster 5 – Online assessment

Smart and Skilled is a NSW Government program that helps people get qualifications in in-demand skills and industries. It’s a key part of the NSW vocational education and training system. It helps people in New South Wales gain the necessary skills to find employment and progress in their careers.
Smart and Skilled gives eligible students:
an entitlement to government-subsidised training up to and including Certificate III
government funding for higher-level courses (Certificate IV and above) in targeted priority areas.
