Through this course, you’ll learn how to read and interpret plans, use tools and equipment safely, construct building frames and structures, and carry out a wide range of carpentry tasks on residential and commercial sites. This qualification prepares you for work in the building and construction industry.
The course will provide you with a blend of theoretical and practical coursework that will assist you to achieve the following outcomes:
On successful completion of this course you will receive a Certificate III in Carpentry (CPC30220).
This qualification consists of 27 core units and 7 elective units, designed to reflect the practical skills and knowledge required in the carpentry trade.
Core units cover essential carpentry tasks such as constructing frames, installing flooring systems, using tools and equipment, and following WHS procedures.
Elective units allow you to focus on specific areas like formwork, roofing, or working safely at heights, depending on your career goals.
All units are nationally recognised and contribute toward becoming a qualified carpenter.

This RPL pathway is ideal for individuals with substantial hands-on experience in the carpentry or construction industry who are seeking formal recognition of their skills.
You may be suitable for RPL if you:
Have 3 or more years of full-time experience in residential or commercial carpentry
Can provide evidence of past work such as job photos, site documents, references, or employment history
Are familiar with construction plans, tools, safety procedures, and standard carpentry tasks
Basic entry requirements:
Minimum 18 years of age
Have a valid USI (Unique Student Identifier): https://www.usi.gov.au/students/Digital-ID
Satisfy a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) level suitable for trade-level communication and documentation
Note: RPL is not a training program. It is an assessment-only process based on your existing experience. If gaps are found, you may be advised to complete further training or provide additional evidence.
The duration of the RPL process depends on how quickly you can provide sufficient, valid, and current evidence. If all required documentation is submitted and meets competency standards, most candidates complete the RPL process within 3 months.
